Heart Problems
Many girls and women with Turner Syndrome were born with heart defects, or abnormalities in heart structure ("Turner syndrome," 2013). Defects in main blood vessels leading out of the heart increase the risk of a tear in the inner layer of the aorta. There can also be a defect in valve between the heart and the aorta may also increase risk of a narrowing of the valve (aortic valve stenosis). Also, women with Turner Syndrome have an increased risk of diabetes and high blood pressure which can lead to disease of the heart and blood vessels ("Turner syndrome," 2013). |
